waterman's challenge - cocoa beach

Event Details

The 16th Annual Waterman’s Challenge and Luau — set for June 4 and 5 at the International Palms Resort in Cocoa Beach — will feature surfing divisions for everyone from menehunes to senior citizens. Bring the family for a weekend of fun and surfing!

This year, the event will bring back several popular divisions, including the vintage surf division and the Florida State Paddleboard Championships.  A favorite of both competitors and spectators, the vintage contest will feature competitors surfing on boards made in ’60s through ’80s eras, typically twin fin retro and single fins styles.

Along with the long and short board surfing divisions, events for the youngest surfers and a grand legend co-ed contest for seniors 60 and up, the Florida State Paddleboard Contest, will be a part of Saturday’s action. Open to all paddle craft — including kayaks, surf skis, outrigger canoes, longboards and SUP (stand-up paddle) vehicles — the 5-mile race will take participants on a northbound trek up to the Cocoa Beach Pier and back — starting at 9 a.m. from the International Palms contest site. The winners of the open division will be crowned “king and queen of the beach.”

Entry into surfing events will be $5 per event.
All proceeds from the event go directly to the Florida Surf Museum.
